AHAB est un tout jeune groupe formé en 2004 à Esslingen (Allemagne) par Stephan Adolph (basse, guitare, chant), Daniel Droste (chant, guitare, claviers) et Chris R. Hector (guitare, Midnattsol, Penetralia). Il ne pourrait être qu’une autre formation de Funeral Doom, cependant le groupe tire son épingle du jeu grâce à un concept très personnel. En effet, le nom du groupe est en référence au capitaine dément qui poursuit Moby Dick dans le roman de Melville, et toutes les paroles et artworks renvoient à cette lutte titanesque. Il ne faut qu’un an au groupe pour sortir une première démo, The Oath, qui bien que tirées à seulement trente exemplaires, reçoit un accueil enthousiaste au sein de la scène Doom. Ce disque montre la formation officiant dans un Funeral Doom incroyablement lourd et massif et néanmoins bardé d’ambiances, proche de Tyranny. Le groupe retourne en studio après quelques concerts, notamment au Doom Shall Rise IV, et son premier album, The Call of the Wretched Sea, est attendu pour le 29 septembre 2006.
