Covenant

Covenant désigne deux formations aux genres très différents, mais aux origines toutes aussi nordiques l'une que l'autre: 1. Covenant, devenu The Kovenant : groupe de black metal atmosphérique et expérimental norvégien 2. Covenant : groupe électro suédois. 1. Covenant / The Kovenant : Premier supergroupe black metal formé en 1993 par Blackheart (maintenant Psy Coma) et Nagash (maintenant Lex Icon), membre de Dimmu Borgir. Le groupe a entre-autre compté dans ses rangs Hellhammer (Mayhem), Astennu (Carpe Tenebrum et Dimmu Borgir), Sverd (Arcturus) et Sarah Jezebel Deva (Therion et Cradle of Filth). En 1999, la formation change de nom en The Kovenant, pour éviter le procès dont la menace leur homonyme suédois. Le premier album Dreams of a Cryotank est bien entendu à posséder pour tout adepte sérieux d'electro, suivi de la séquelle Sequencer, de l'essai Europa, du très retors United States of Mind pour finir avec le glacial Northern light et enfin,& bien sûr, l'ironique Skyshaper... History: In the late 1970s and early 1980s, electronic music and several of its subgenres became a preferred musical style among European underground culture. It gained favor initially within major cities and eventually trickled into the continent's more socially secluded regions. This new wave of music was discovered at different instances by a group of young friends living among the shadows of Helsingborg, a scenic municipality in southern Sweden. Eskil Simonsson, Joakim Montelius, and Clas Nachmanson, three teenagers with mutual, youthful curiosities for science, philosophy, and matters of existence, were enthralled by the unique presentation and the emotional content offered through the music, specifically by that of bands such as Kraftwerk, The Human League, and by EBM pioneers Front 242 and Nitzer Ebb.
