Defeated Sanity est un groupe de death metal allemand originaire de Dachsbach en Bavière, il a été formé en 1994. Au départ c'était un projet parallèle du guitariste Wolfgang Teske et de son fils, le batteur Lille Gruber, qui est d'ailleurs le seul membre restant de la formation originelle depuis le départ de Teske en juillet 2008 (décédé en 2010 des suites d'un cancer). Les autres membres sont Christian Kühn (guitare), Konstantin Lühring (chant) et Jacob Schmidt (basse). Le groupe a sorti trois albums studio depuis sa création : Prelude to the Tragedy (2004), Psalms of the Moribund (2007) et Chapters of Repugnance (2010).
