L'album du producteur de Philadelphie, Lushlife, insuffle un nouveau souffle au hip-hop en partant des principes fondamentaux du genre et en leur appliquant une vision futuriste très personnelle, sans être toutefois d’une originalité hors du commun. Maniant la technique du « mash up » avec dextérité, Raj Hakdar (alias Lushlife) s’est fait connaître en proposant l’album West Sound en téléchargement gratuit et qui, comme son titre l’indique, fusionnait le The College Dropout de Kanye West et le Pet Sound des Beach Boys. Si l’album avait créé un certain buz autour sa personne, c’est probablement avec Cassette City, que le producteur de Philadelphie pourrait bien décrocher ses lettres de noblesse, tant les quatre années passées à le peaufiner ont été intenses. Et le résultat est là !
