Play Dead

Play Dead fut un groupe anglais de rock « Gothique » originaire d'Oxford qui se développa sur la scène punk dès 1980. On peut le définir comme du « Dark punk » de préférence au style Gothique en pleine formation à cette époque. Parmi les groupes proches du style de Playdead, on trouve UK Decay, qui se reforme en 2008 pour des concerts exceptionnels, et aussi Sex gang Children. Le groupe refuse l'appellation de « gothique ». Le groupe a enregistré trois albums studio pour quatre différents labels ”Fresh Records, Jungle Records, Situation 2, et Clay Records” avant de créer leur propre label Tanz, pour leur dernier album « Company Of Justice », qui sorti en 1985. La formation initiale du groupe PLAY DEAd était : Rob Hickson (chant), Pete Waddleton (basse), Mark Wiff Smith (batterie), et Re-Vox (guitare). En juillet 1981, Re Vox fut remplacé par Steven Green. en 1984, Rob et Pete ont créé le projet Mankind's Audio Development surnommé M.A.D. un seul single fut enregistré avec deux chansons : Craving et Sunfeast.
